Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders - their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and they continue their lives as though nothing has changed. Most of humanity has fallen. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' that has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories.But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: Melanie refusing to surrender possession of her mind.
Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man she loves - Jared, a human who is in hiding. Unable to separate herself from Melanie's feelings, Wanderer yearns for a man she has never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off in search for the man they both love.
